There is some growing interest to hold a global open data hackathon to
help build interest in open data - particularly to support localities
where open data is not on the radar for government or politicians.

The goal is to do it on December 4th, with the broad goal of trying to
enable hackathon's to connect so people can showcase projects and ideas.
The World Bank is keen to promote it as they are in the midst of their
Apps for Development challenge which dovetails nicely - they may even be
able to deploy people in certain regions to come and participate,
something that could give a real credibility boost to advocates trying
to engage local, regional or national governments.

If anyone on this list is interested please drop me a note -
david at eaves.ca - right now it looks like we have interest in Vancouver,
Ottawa, Sao Paulo and London, with people in some other cities starting
to ping me.

cheers,
dave
