Thanks Pablo, Richard and Rufus. I've created three related tickets,
so that we can improve the experience in this area:

* http://trac.ckan.org/ticket/1512 Modifying user name makes you semi-log-out
* http://trac.ckan.org/ticket/1513 Logged in/out problems
* http://trac.ckan.org/ticket/1514 Modifying user name loses
connection with revisions
