Hi All,

We have a initial straw-man spec out for data catalog schema and
access protocol. See email below and post just out:

Subject: Request for Comments on Draft Data Catalog Standard (Schema
and Protocol)
To: data-catalogs at lists.okfn.org

Hi,

Ever since the international data catalogs meeting in Edinburgh last
year there has been ongoing discussion about a schema and protocol for
data catalogs.

Over the last few months, in consultation with the DCAT team, we at
the CKAN project have been working on a draft spec for a data
datacatalog "standard" incorporating both a schema and an API /
protocol for accessing and syncing data catalogs. A first draft of
this standard is online at:

http://spec.datacatalogs.org/

Roughly this consists of 2 parts:

1. A schema (in essence DCAT) specifying a serialization of Dataset information
2. A protocol / API for getting this information from a compliant data
catalog site

We emphasize this is a very first draft and is intentionally fairly
rough as an invitation to contribution. Details of how to contribute
can be found both on the site and below.

Rufus Pollock, James Gardner, Richard Cyganiak, Faadi Maali

Ways to contribute:

* This mailing list
* Issues at https://github.com/okfn/data-catalog-spec/issues
* Fork and patch the source at
https://github.com/okfn/data-catalog-spec/blob/master/source/index.rst
