Not sure to what extent people on this list are familiar with the Personal
Democracy Forum (PDF) - it started in the US as a gathering of people
interested in how technology is changing government, politics and democracy
and has grown quite rapidly.

Their first two day conference in Europe was held last year in Barcelona.
See http://personaldemocracy.com/pdf-conference/pdf-europe/pdf-coming-europefor
an idea of content, speakers and programme.

It's happening again this year, 4-5 October, again in Barcelona
http://personaldemocracy.com/pdf-europe-2010 and this year one of the
subjects covered will be open data (this isn't made explicit on the website
but has been mentioned in emails they've sent).

The outline of the conference is still a bit sketchy - just a list of
potential speakers at the moment - but it might be worth thinking if anyone
from this list and OKF should attend, or approach the organisers as a
possible speaker, particularly considering the European wide nature of OKF
work. The prices of tickets are a surprisingly reasonable €195 for the two
days for advanced bookings.
