[open-government] Who is hacking on transport data?

Hello Daniel,

We are aware of a couple of examples of re-use of transport data.
Gijon [1], a city in the north of Spain, has released real-time
information of the local public transport (bus). This information is
provided by a queriable web service [2], which was already used
(internally) to feed the displays at the bus stops (remaining time for
the next coach, accessible coach?, line and destination, etc.).

This web service enables rich applications in real time, such as this
map with the current status of bus lines and stops in Gijon [3]. Both,
coaches (represented by numbered markers) and stops are clickable.
Balloons show the current status of every element.

Also, there is another useful app which uses this information. It's a
layer for the augmented reality browser, Layar, which shows bus stops,
taxi stops, public bike-for-rent stations, and points to top-up the
local travel card. A video explaining this layer on [4] (apologies,
it's in Spanish).

Best regards,

Martin
