pdfs are the tools of the devil (and the printing industry).

instead of doing dirty workarounds, can we pls have access to the raw source?
sir, you're in an excellent position to start such a dialogue with the
responsible parties. 

and yes, this information is very important for our work, so if anyone has a
dirty workaround and can reliably scrape this info, that is very welcome.
