i have tried using the WP plugin this past week for the first time and
i could not connect it successfully to annotateit either - my first
guess was that there is some API mismatch that would require updating
code in the plugin but haven't had time to investigate this fully yet:
do you see that error message in the browser's JS console or is it
appearing in your pages' HTML output?
