[Bibjson-dev] Railroad diagrams for BibJSON

Hi Folks,

At the Symplectic user conference last week, Peter and I were chatting
with John Salter, a developer from the University of Leeds, who is
also a big JSON fan. He proposed that one of the big successes of
JSON is that it can be described with a couple of diagrams on a single
sheet of paper (see http://www.json.org/), and that it would be good
if BibJSON could do the same.

Now, I'm not sure whether this really fits onto a single sheet of
paper, or if it has the same simplicity as the JSON definition, but
here's a first stab at it (see attached).

These are railroad diagrams, which have been generated automatically
from some BNF that I wrote to explore the idea. The BNF is also
attached - there are two versions in that file, one of which is a bit
long winded, and one which I compressed to make smaller diagrams.

The diagrams aren't as nifty as the JSON ones - I happen to know that
they were produced by hand in visio, and we could do something similar
when we're happy with the definition.

Cheers,

Richard
