Dear all,

The online meetup on CKAN-Drupal integration on Thursday was
well-attended and very useful. Thanks to all who attended for their
contributions. Notes from the meeting are in the etherpad:

Summary:

Various people who are using CKAN and Drupal together talked about
their experience. data.gov.uk previously used a 'tight' integration
with CKAN as a catalogue back-end and all front-end functions provided
by Drupal. But they found this problematic and have moved towards a
looser integration, where CKAN directly provides the catalogue
interface. Others are using similar setups but different in detail.

It's hard for someone setting up a new Drupal/CKAN site to find the
folk wisdom on how this can be done. Everyone vigorously agreed with
David Read's suggestion that it would be good for a few existing
organisations to write up case studies about how they have done this.

Follow-up:

Would anyone like to write up such a case study? :-) It would be great
to put this up on the CKAN wiki. Also, the existing page at
<http://wiki.ckan.org/Drupal> seems to be rather out of date; if
anyone with a proper understanding of the technical issues would like
to undertake to give it a makeover, that would also be very welcome!

Mark
