Hello Irina,
I think the biggest improvement to metadata schema would be a
higher-level way to specify things like this all in one place:
"I want to add a new mandatory field called update_frequency to the
default dataset type, displayed to the user as 'Update frequency'. I
want the values ['never', 'occasionally', 'all the time'] to be the
only ones accepted as valid, and I want the field added to the dataset
form as a radio button list"
Right now you have to add parts of those things in about four
different places in an extension. Such a higher-level metadata schema
could be implemented as an extension with no changes to core.
