We have built infrastructure to customize a vm from a Ubuntu 12.04 cloud
image into a running CKAN instance.

Everything needed is available at:
https://github.com/openumea/openumea-deployment

This uses cloud-init to customize the image, and can be used in ec2 or
on a local vm-environment. We use it with openstack, ec2, libvirt, and
virtualbox.

For local deployments you just generate a iso image that contains all
the customization information needed and attach it to the vm, and on
first boot, it will setup everything as needed.

Right now its kinda geared towards what we have needed in our project,
but pull-requests for broader functionality are welcome =)
