Hello James,
I usually install packages from sources or distribution binaries built
for a given platform, trying to avoid dependencies from operating system
imposed by package managers.
You may try to modify my installation script for Debian which is
available at http://paste.ubuntu.com/6120079/
In a nutshell, you just need to modify steps which involves "apt-get".
Notice that installation/configuration of nginx and jetty are not tested.
I also have another script which compiles Python from sources. If you'd
like to have a look, please let me know.
