Does anyone know the status of this issue… will it be addressed in the next release?

Thanks for the patch Adria. But I’m still getting the following exception when logged in as an Admin of an organization: “Unauthorized to add member to group”

As Nigel mentions 2.2.1 should be out soon, in the meantime you can apply the attached patch.
Download it to the ckan source folder, and run:
git apply 1505.diff
