Hi David,

we have integrated CKAN with Shibboleth SSO.
You can find the code here:
https://github.com/CENDARI/ckanext-dariahshibboleth

The plugin implements CKAN's plugins.IAuthenticator.
Unfortunately this also means we have to take care of session handling.
Since we don't want to force authentication via Apache, we have to directly manipulate the pylons session data.
This is what the persona extension does as well:
