[ckan-dev] Additional Filter Abilities

I think I will do it that way but add a checkbox "allow numeric comparisons" for the slim possibility that the text e.g. ">5" exists in the data.

Hey Matt,

Thanks for the insight, sound like possibly good news. To answer your question, my preference would be just adding the syntax in the filter input, but either would be suitable.

Thanks,
Christian

Dear Christian,
By incredible coincidence we did a demo involving the preview feature on Friday where we tried to do this and it of course did not work. I will be trying to add it in the coming days as an extension or improvement to CKAN generally, as it is something we really need. The question is, do we just want a syntax inside the filter input (as in >5) or do we want a UI where you select 'between', 'greater than', 'less than' etc. Suggestions welcome.

    Hey Community,

I've been searching around but I can't find an answer, so I was hoping someone here might know. Is there a way, or an extension, that allows a user to filter within the preview interface on fields using different comparisons (rather than just equal to)? For example, if a user wanted to find rows in which field 1 is not equal to "certain value"? Or even to compare a date, say filter rows which field 2 is greater than "2/20/15"? I know that this is possible via the SQL search in the API, but I was hoping there was a way to do this on the resource preview page.

    Thanks,
