[ckan-dev] Community Interest for a strong dashboarding functionnality

Hello list,

I work for a urban planning agency for one of the biggest metropolitan area in France, and we plan to have a partial-opendata initiative.

We are considering CKAN as one of our options. A major requirement is to have a robust dashboarding functionnality. Some pieces are actually included in extensions, but are lacking in several key areas : very simple graph options, no cross-datasets dashboards, no calculations (ratios...), very complex UI and basic page layout.

Is there some interest in the community to develop a stronger dashboarding functionnality as a CKAN extension or as a side project ? It would include something like plot.ly dashboards with a strong and versatile visualization library like vega.js.

We may be able to find funding to contribute to the development.
