[ckan-dev] problem in javascript module

Hi all, 
I am new to CKAN and I have an issue I am not able to solve. I'm writing a javascript module and I need to read and write to a database table. Is there a standard procedure to do this? I thought I'd call a python function via an ajax call, is it ok? My site is deployed using Apache and modwsgi. 
Otherwise, is there a way to return values from a multiselect (created by jinja command) to javascript module?
