[ckan-dev] Set up customized schema

Hi Jenny,

Welcome to CKAN. There are two methods. The IDatasetForm is a way to, via python code, within an Extension, extend/alter the schema. You can also use the Extension Scheming – this allows you to describe your schema in JSON. It is considerably easier and less work. If you do use scheming, ensure the json file is called dataset.json – that will make sure it is used as the default ‘new dataset’ schema.

Good luck

Regards Timothy

Subject: [ckan-dev] Set up customized schema

Hi, All:

I'm new to CKAN and I have a question about updating the default schema in our testing site. I found in the document "Customizing dataset and resource metadata fields using IDatasetForm".

Is that the right documentation I should use to set up a customized schema? Has anyone done that? Any instruction? I haven't read though the document yet.

In addition, should I remove all the data in our testing env before I set up the customized schema?

Thanks.

Jenny
