Dear Bruno

I asked recently a similar question to the list: https://lists.okfn.org/pipermail/ckan-dev/2017-October/011173.html
>From my experience, Solr 6.5.1 is the newest CKAN version compatible with the CKAN 2.7.2 schema.xml file without any changes.
I am successfully using it in a multicore installation, also with ckanext-spatial with Solr backend with a spatial field.

I hope it helps.

Best,
Lucia

Subject: [ckan-dev] Unclear Solr Version Requirements / Compatibility /	Suppport

Hello,

For people installing from sources, there is no details about the good Solr version to use.

There is a lot of version and this is often tempting for people to take on of the latest. But after installing Solr inside an ubuntu:14.04 container, I can see that's a pretty old version:

root at 738153d2e62a:/# cat /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=14.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=trusty
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS"

root at 738153d2e62a:/# dpkg -l | grep solr
ii libsolr-java 3.6.2+dfsg-2 all Enterprise search server based on Lucene - Java libraries
ii solr-common 3.6.2+dfsg-2 all Enterprise search server based on Lucene3 - common files
ii solr-jetty 3.6.2+dfsg-2 all Enterprise search server based on Lucene3 - Jetty integration

Is that infer that you officially support 3.6.x Solr?

Would be nice to include this directly in docs.

Thanks
Bruno Lavoie
