[ckan-discuss] Linked Open Data star badges

My 2 cents is that TimBL's 5 stars are informative, but evaluation of
datasets on CKAN shouldn't be based around them. Think the two current
things are pretty solid:

  * bulk download URL (Y/N)
  * open (Y/N)

In my mind this is the bread and butter stuff when it comes to finding
and reusing data. Other stuff is interesting and important (timely,
complete, linked, etc), but being able to get hold of the stuff and
being allowed to reuse it is absolutely essential. Whether its CSV/XLS
is nowhere near as important as whether or not you can grab the stuff,
and whether or not it is open (as in opendefinition.org).

That said I wonder if we could build a plugin to 'operationalise' the
5 star system based on info that we collect? E.g. format info, URL,
etc.
