Hi Momoko,

The challenge is, you'll need to talk to different people to get the
full picture!

Rufus would be the best person to talk to about how CKAN started and
the challenges involved.  It started in early 2007 with just him.
Others on the list would be best to give you numbers of users etc
(it's quite a federated community, so there's not a single place to go
to for numbers).  I could happily fill you in on (4) and (5).

Feel free to skype me (seb.bacon) and I can at least start you off :)
