[ckan-discuss] Datahub upgrade coming soon

Hi, Mark and all!

Well, in regards to someone requesting multilingual fields before, I've
found this message from Jonathan Gray [1] in 2010. I also remember having
mentioned it myself at some point when we were discussing a CKAN wishlist
in one of CKAN's discussion lists.

Anyway, I think installing the multilingual extension on datahub.io would
suffice. What are the technical issues you mentioned?

What I'd like to do is to finally merge the datasets on br.ckan.net into
datahub.io (and shut down the old site). I'd help with translating the
metadata into english versions of the dataset descriptions. Most of the
local CKAN sites have been merged with datahub.io by now. At the time most
were merged, my only objection to doing it on the Brazilian instance was
that we couldn't have multilingual metadata fields yet then. But now
there's this extension which should solve that problem. I'd like to read
the thoughts of the community on this idea.
