Yep, and - I suppose - first thing to check is whether Rackspace was down over those times or what else it could have been...

It looks like their db server was unreachable for all the times that they had downtimes.

Our monitoring of the applications showed that they became unavailable 5 times yesterday (Monday 27/05/2013). 
We have the following times recorded for these outages: 
07:36 - 07:39 
14:54 - 14:56 
20:45 - 20:50 
22:29 - 22:32 
22:38 - 22:41
We suspect that there was network issues with the database server as: 
* the uptime on database server is 187 days 
* the log file (/var/log/apache2/ssq/epub.error.log) shows the following error
