Perhaps some of the more technology-oriented news organizations would
be interested in mentoring students on open source data /
computational journalism projects over the summer. If so, Google
Summer of Code is starting their yearly cycle. Here's the FAQ - about
the only serious restriction is that the projects have to be open
source and your pitch has to make sense to Google.
