[ddj] AIS ship tracking data

I had a good long look for something similar a few months ago – my search
came up mostly empty as well.

The closest I got was a geo-tiff or some such thing from The National
Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (
https://www.nceas.ucsb.edu/globalmarine/data). Data link:
https://knb.ecoinformatics.org/#view/doi:10.5063/F1S180FS

But I couldn't get the raster data to work well enough on my short
deadline, so I switched gears. It also turned out that the resolution is
not quite high enough to show more than a basic "wow, that's a lot of
boats" about the Strait of Malacca we were focused on.

But maybe someone else will find those links useful!
