Hi Bert,

For the rest api you can use either /api/rest/dataset to get a list of
datasets (which you can then count), or you could use the search api with
no query and you will be given a count (/api/search/dataset). We generally
recommend using the logic API (v3) going forward though, see
http://docs.ckan.org/en/ckan-1.7.2/apiv3.html.
