Hi Darwin,

I would phone you to add that human touch, but it's best to keep everyone up to date.

I have asked for the translation of three options for us, which would each time place the number of datasets at the end of a phrase, after a colon. The longer to shorter options are:

(1) 'Total datasets available on the EU Open Data Portal: X' ,
(2)  'Total datasets available on the European Union Open Data Portal: X' and
(3) 'Total datasets available: X'

I should have these by 13.00 CET tomorrow. Would it still be possible for me to enter these in Transifex? If my understanding is correct then, I can then move chunks around and delete them?

Based on the string as it now stands (%(site_title)s contains [1:%(num_datasets)s datasets] that you can browse, learn about and download), this would give in option 3  'Total datasets available: [1:%(num_datasets)]'.

Could you confirm that this is ok?

Hi Agnieszka,

You don't need to stick to the structure of the English sentence. In Transifex you can change the sentence completely as needed for each language and just place the variables exactly where they should appear within the sentence. Therefore I'm not quite clear how this doesn't give you the flexibility you need?

If there is something I've missed then we can obviously change to option 1 or 2. Just let us know what text you'd like on the ticket and we can update Transifex.

Thank you for creating this sentence. I've just discussed it with Glen and we came to the conclusion that the way it's done in Transifex (composition of separate building blocks) unfortunately doesn't solve the problem we have because it is still under assumption that other lv reflect exactly EN structure of the sentence while it's not the case. So it doesn’t allow for flexibility and doesn't permit to solve the issues with the declensions.
If we want to make progress on this, we need to:
either

1.    Have a sentence where the only variable would be [%(num_dataset)] that we could put in the correct place according to the translation

Or

2.    Replace it with another sentence like: Total datasets available: [%(num_dataset)].
