Subject: invitation to become Sectoral Expert

Dear Richard,

As you may have heard, the European
Commission has requested proposals for the follow-up to the current ePSI
platform (http://www.epsiplatform.eu/)
for 2011-2013. Together with Ton Zijlstra, Katleen Janssen and the Open
Knowledge Foundation, I am putting in a bid.

The project will be aimed at:

1.
Maintaining and enhancing the
ePSIplatform as information source at current high level

2.
stimulating, energizing and
extending the current network and community of stakeholders around PSI and its
re-use.

3.
advisory service, keeping track
of the state of play in Member States, as well as market sectors (business
information, geo, meteo, legal etc.)

4.
awareness raising to extend the
community and network into Member States, sectors and stakeholder groups that
are not much involved yet.

To make sure that our efforts throughout
the two year contract period are balanced and maintain the necessary breadth
and depth across relevant sectors for PSI issues we are involving Sectoral
Experts. Typically, such experts have extensive experience and an impressive
track record in one of the import PSI Domains, also making sure there is
sufficient, what we call, with all due respect of course, grey hair and wisdom
in our team (where we may be regarded as new kids on the block). Obviously, for
the meteo sector, you are on top of our list (we are also inviting Ton Donker).

During the project, we would very
appreciate your input on new sectoral developments, as they appear on your
radar. Also, we would like to rely on your occasional advise, where we intend
to draft sectoral ‘specials’ to be published, based on an interview we will
have with you. Next to that, we would like you to write an occasional guest
weblog, obviously, giving you full visibility. Of course, we will make sure
this does not take too much time and effort.  Also, you are kindly invited
to the two EPSI conferences we will be organizing and the two ‘sectoral
workshops’ that will be coinciding with the conferences. Of course your travel
and subsistence costs will be covered.

Me and the rest of the team would be
honored if you would join and I am looking forward to your response. If you
have any further questions, please give me a call.

Best regards,

Marc
