This is the full text of the invitation for the event, including list of
confirmed participants:

Dear all

Please join us for the Data Harvest Festival in May in Brussels – from 5th
to 8th of May.



This time we combine five different groups:

Hack/Hackers

Farmsubsidy.org

Fishsubsidy.org

Specialist in Data Driven Journalism in Europe, normally regarding
themselves as CAR-journalists

Wobbing.eu (FOI-specialists)



Look at the draft program – below in this mail, and please confirm that you
can join and do the suggested presentation/workshop, where I have included
your name.

We hope you can get travel/accommodation covered by your company – else we
will try to solve it.

Please also look at the list of participants – below program. If you think
others should join, please contact them and me to get them on the list. Be
aware we have limited room for participants and we can’t make an open
invitation.

confirm your participation and also if you have any request. Or write to me
with request to the program or for proposing more participants.

Thursday 5th May – starting at 11 am:



11-12:

Access to European farm data. Status and Strategy after closing down EU Farm
Subsidy Data. Discussion: Setting up the principles for fighting for the
data in closed countries. Speakers Jack Thurston and Brigitte Alfter.

Workshop after this session dividing the tasks to be done this time in
Brussels.



12.15-13.15:

Analysing Farm Subsidy data. We have data from Denmark, Sweden, Hungary and
Czech Republic now – we hope to get more before this meeting. Presentation
of data by Nils Mulvad. Planning the analysis to be done in Brussels.
Dividing tasks. Journalists can present wishes and get help to the analysis.





13.15-14.15: Lunch



14.15-15.15:

Finding and analysing European data. What is there to get right now besides
fish and farm subsidy. Overview of sources and what they can be used for in
stories. Presentation of data by Simon Rogers, Guardian and Nils Mulvad.
Planning the analysis to be done in Brussels. Dividing tasks. Journalists
can present wishes and get help to the analysis.



Google Fusion. How to use Google Fusion for simple and advanced
presentation. Hands-on training. Part 1: Getting the data into Fusion. Tommy
Kaas, Kaas & Mulvad



15.30-16.30:

The Fish - they are gone. Looking into Fish subsidy data. How to analyse and
present them. A workshop will help journalists looking into data on their
own country. Presentation of data by Nils Mulvad. Together we plan the
analysis to be done in Brussels.



Google Fusion. How to use Google Fusion for simple and advanced
presentation. Hands-on training. Part 2: Using maps. Tommy Kaas, Kaas &
Mulvad



16.45-17.45:

Workshop on data-analysis. Help by Sebastian Mondial and Nils Mulvad.



Workshop on writing applications for farm subsidy data. Help by Brigitte
Alfter and Jack Thurston.

presentation. Hands-on training. Part 3: Merge, aggregate – using timelines,

Friday 6th May – starting at 9 am:



9-10:

Presenting data on the web. Experiences and strategies in making interactive
graphics. Speakers Simon Rogers, Guardian, John Bones, VG, and Tommy Kaas,
Kaas & Mulvad. Participants can announce to do a presentation on 5 minutes.
We might repeat this if we have many responses. Or combine more to
Structural Funds.



Open Data. Status and strategy for using PSI-directive to get data for the
European public. Lessons to learn from country to country. Sharing tactics.
Prepare a short presentation. Moderators Wilhelm Mecklenburg and Staffan
Dahllöf.





10.30 – 11.30

Privacy becoming a big issue. Besides the ECJ-ruling on farm subsidies we
have Bavarian Lager and the Lisbon treaty. Discussion on what to expect and
how to react now. Moderator: Staffan Dahllöf
