Hi all,

I have received a request form Alberto Cottica for the ePSIplatform to
support the very first face to face meeting of the Spaghetti Open Data
community.

It will take place 18-20 January in Bologna. (18 presentations, 19 hackday,
20 training on data skills) I will go there to present as they would like
to show the Italian community that open data is taking in this big European
context, and better connect them to Europe.

They are asking for some financial support (1000-2000 range). We had an
overall budget of 4000 for this, and have spent if I am correct only 1000
(data journalists in Brussels, OpenAid in Prague). We had reserved 1000 for
the Nantes open data week in travel bursaries but we did not use that in
the end, as no valid applications were received. It means we have 3000
budget left until 1 March 2013, is that correct Tom? They intend to have
t-shirts printed and would add our logo to that.

I've briefly discussed this with Marc yesterday on the phone and he is
supportive. I'm now looking to hear your opinion.

I would suggest offering 1000 or 1500, and use the remaining budget to
offer travel bursaries from small EU MS to our conference in Warsaw.

(And I will of course also check with the EC if they are ok with offering
support to the Italian initiative)

What do you guys think?

best,

Ton
