Hi Ton,

This is the best thing done for the Danes by the Dutch since 8 November
1658... <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Sound>

Really good stuff!

Hi all,

Yesterday the first CPH Data Drinks took place.

Cathrine Lippert (Danish gov) had told me she does not hear very often from
Danish open data community members about their open data wishes and issues.
And that the local community seems to be more a number of individuals and
islands than a network.

So I decided to organize the 'Copenhagen Data Drinks', an informal
get-together, that I've organized elsewhere before or stimulated others to
start doing. Bring people together in a cafe, and have them talk about their
ideas, dreams, concerns around data. And bring as many different types of
stakeholders as possible. See <http://www.meetup.com/CPH-Data-Drinks/>

Yesterday some 30 people showed up for the Data Drinks. We created a list of
data sets they most want to see published first.

Three people volunteered to hold the next ones in 6 and 12 weeks time. I'll
provide them with tips and tricks on how to build momentum.

Some online reactions: See
<http://www.meetup.com/CPH-Data-Drinks/events/85665792/>
http://www.meetup.com/CPH-Data-Drinks/events/85665792/

"The start of a good tradition" and others.

"absurd thought, <https://twitter.com/ton_zylstra> @ton_zylstra will
probably do more for the open data community in dk in one month staying in
cph - than has been done before"

https://twitter.com/mygdal/status/255206844224638976 (this was before the
event, when I announced the event, by one of the bigger angel investors in
Denmark)

and Cathrine Lippert said in a direct message "Super good! Lots of people,
great conversations, new connections made. Now we have to keep it going and
growing - I'll keep pushing."

I have presentations scheduled later this month with the Danish Ministry of
Housing, as well as the Danish national association of IT professionals to
present on the EU open data strategy and what it means for public service as
well as innovation and business.

And after three days of fever, I am now back to (mostly) normal again.

best,

Ton
