Dear all,
thank you for your trust!

Time to do a little disclaimer: I am still learning and nothing is decided
yet. But: I hope I can realise a nice little journalistic open data project
in Germany this year. To date I think of using EU data for a start on a
certain topic - and I am still wondering what kind of data would be suitable
to use as it should be scaleable: Usable from a European perspective, but
also interesting from a local perspective.

"Journalistic" means that I am convinced that users want some written
analysis regarding the data application - but it shouldn't be a static
approach: A first analysis should provoke more analysis - and user/reader
feedback should be an essential part of the process. I am thinking of a sort
of open data based investigative collaborative journalism.

I am sure you have read these two articles which point out the need to
analyse "relevant" data:
http://www.economist.com/world/international/displaystory.cfm?story_id=15469415&fsrc=rss
http://radar.oreilly.com/2010/02/rethinking-open-data.html

As my learning process continues I document interesting findings here:
http://blog.kooptech.de/tag/open-data/ (in German though)
and I am happy to be here with you. I hope I can share some ideas and
impressions with you.

best,
Christiane Schulzki-Haddouti
