Dear all,

this mail is about the Working Group itself. Its up since late 2009, and since then it has done a great job as one of the main channels for the emerging european open data community.

There are about 400 people on this mailing list. However most are not represented on the wiki:

People from the WG have helped to boot the open data manual (now called handbook) and the Open Government Data Camp (OGDCamp) in 2010 and 2011. See also my blog post about the working group: http://blog.okfn.org/2011/11/30/working-group-update-eu-open-data/

My feeling is that the WG is really a great resource. People share news and ideas and ask questions. Member of the working group have wisdom and expertise to answer a lot of these questions. That is in itself a lot!

However I am wondering

* what should we do in 2012?
* could we as a working group do more?
* are there projects we should focus on?
* what would you like to do at the WG?

Also, this working group has not have regular calls for a long time - I miss them. So here is a proposal: Lets reinitiate regular conference calls to discuss these and other questions. I suggest to have them bimonthly, alternating with the call of the Open Government Data working group. In order not to having to poll each time I would like to find out what would be the best day for most of you. So please poll this doodle to indicate which day of a month suites you best.

After we identified the best day/month I will send an invitation. Notes for the calls will be here:

Looking forward to reboot this working group!

All the best
Daniel
