I understand the previous Jisc bid for CKAN with Peter Murray-Rust was
unsuccessful? Did they give any reasons?
Does that mean that we probably don't want to apply for the bigger
data management infrastructure call (see below)?

This is a reminder that the JISC is holding a community briefing event
on Monday, 6 July 2009 at the ICC in Birmingham where potential
bidders will be given information about the background of the recent
Data Management Infrastructure Call, its objectives and the bidding
process. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions of
JISC executive staff and relevant JISC committee members.
Online registration for the Briefing Day for Data Management
Infrastructure is now open. Registration can be made here:

for bidding prior to registering. Exact timings and agenda for the day
will be confirmed on our events page shortly:

The Digital Curation Centre (DCC: http://www.dcc.ac.uk/) will provide
general support for this Call and for the JISC Research Data Programme
more generally. Bidders are invited to consult with the DCC in

number for enquiries will shortly be set up: please watch out for
announcements. In the meantime, bidders may use the contact details
provided on the DCC’s general Helpdesk page

Subject: JISC GRANT FUNDING CALL 07/09: DATA MANAGEMENT INFRASTRUCTURE

Projects to identify requirements for, and then build, infrastructure
for effective data management within or across HEIs.
Funding of up to £250,000 per pilot project is available. The JISC
will fund 6-8 projects in total. Funding is available for projects
starting from October 2009 for 18 months. All projects must complete
by 31 March 2011. The deadline for proposals is 12 noon on Thursday 6
August 2009.
The JISC is holding a community briefing event where potential bidders
will be given information about the background to the call, its
objectives and the bidding process. Attendees will also have an
opportunity to ask questions of JISC executive staff and relevant JISC
committee members. This meeting will take place on Monday 6 July 2009.
Members of the community will be invited to register for the meeting.
Online registration will commence around 8 June 2009. Please check
back at that time for details.
Proposals may be submitted by Higher Education (HE) Institutions
funded by HEFCE or HEFCW. HE and FE institutions in Northern Ireland
and Scotland and FE institutions in England and Wales are not eligible
to bid but may be involved as partners in proposals led by HE
institutions funded by HEFCE or HEFCW.
