I wanted to let you know that a former employee of OK has raised a
grievance in relation to her former employment. While on a fixed term UK
employment contract the former employee moved to Germany to give birth,
where the term of the contract expired. She was offered and turned down a
subsequent contract for services.
Via a representative, the person is seeking a Tribunal hearing on matters
including wrongful dismissal, unlawful deduction of monies due, bullying
and harassment and discrimination on the basis of gender and pregnancy.
Without prejudice, OK had offered to follow a grievance process but the
person declined and opted for a legal route. OK have been supported by
counsel (Francis Davey), Penny and Lisa (Omidyar Network) to confirm due
process. They are now in the process of engaging specialist employment
lawyers and are proposing an ACAS mediation process ahead of Tribunal.
