Invitation

The Geographic Information (GI) Panel was established in 2005 to give
high-level advice to Ministers on geographic information issues of
national importance for the United Kingdom. Information about the
membership and work of the GI Panel can be found on its website,
www.gipanel.org.uk

The GI Panel, with the agreement of Ministers, decided one of its
first priorities was to create a Geographic Information Strategy for
the United Kingdom. A contract has recently been let to Know Edge Ltd
to help develop the Strategy and report to the GI Panel. The Know
Edge Ltd team of consultants bring a considerable range of experience
to the task.

As one of the early stages of developing the strategy, Know Edge are
conducting a workshop to explain the agreed approach and timetable as
well as gather initial views from the wider GI community. The
workshop will take place on Friday 23 June, between 1030 hrs and 1530
hrs, hosted at the Ordnance Survey Business Centre in Southampton.

As Chair of the GI Panel, I would like to invite members of the
geographic information community to participate in the workshop.
Places at the workshop will be limited by the capacity of the venue,
and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you
would like to register for the workshop, please email
