Hi,
As I already mentioned yesterday to some people: we shouldn't let domain
name availabilty play a role in our decision taking. If I would like to
name my computer shop "Fido" but www.fido.eu isn't available anymore, I
could try for fidocomputers.be, welkombijfido.be, fidofixthet.be, etc. The
same can be said about our new name :)
More important is the area of work an already registered/trademarked name
is active - e.g. Apple Recordings (the Beatles) and Apple Computers (you
know).
Shortlisting isn't a bad idea however. We could also work with a nomination
system like in Eurosong: you can hand out points to e.g. 15 proposals, and
the final decision is made from the 5 names with the most votes (through a
second voting round, or by the board). Give it a thought!
Cheers,
Sander.
