Dear customer,

Please read the mail below as there is an urgent downtime planned for your environment(s).

We manage one or more Linode server instances for you. Part of our job is following-up maintenance notices from them.

In October Linode let us know that they need to perform an urgent update on the software layer that manages your server(s). This was managed and communicated by us to you.

Today we were informed of a new vulnerability. To fix this, Linode has again planned downtime of your machines, starting today. It's a very short notice period (we don't have a choice), but it is the only way to ensure ongoing security of your environment(s).

As this is the second time in a short period and as downtime is needed anyway, we decided to migrate to an improved virtualisation layer recently offered by Linode. With that new technology (KVM) we expect less problems of this type in the future. Additional benefits are improved performance and faster boot times.

Our team will migrate your instance(s) to KVM tonight. The downtime can commence at any point between 20:00 CET and 24:00 CET and should take between 1 and 2 hours.

The following instances are affected:

Server
irail-web02
Don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions and/or remarks.

Regards,

The Skyscrapers Operations Team.

Geert
