*Abstract:* Tarso Genro is the current governor of Rio Grande do Sul and a
former Secretary of State for
Justice, Economic and Social Development and Education under Lula’s
administration. He is
one of Brazil’s foremost specialists in labour law and author of many books
on law, justice
and human rights. Carlos Henrique Horn is Professor of Economics at the
Universidade
Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, and the Vice-President of BRDS, the regional
development
bank.
Governor Genro and Professor Horn will speak about the current economic and
political
situation in Brazil, as well as about the issues facing the state of Rio
Grande do Sul.
