The UK Government recently dropped plans to include a Communications
Data Bill in their legislative programme. The Bill would have enabled
mass surveillance of all our personal internet and phone
communications, and represented the latest round in a long history of
tension between state surveillance and the right to individual
privacy.
Can a balance be struck that protects civil liberties?
