   A last recommendation if you use the latex beamer package - you can
use markdown and than use pandoc [1] to convert it to latex with
beamer (instead of the usual HTML) and than to PDF - sounds
complicated but if everything is installed it's just something like:

  $ pandoc -t beamer slides.md -o slides.pdf

PS: Will try to add markdown to latex (beamer) support in Slide Show
(S9) later this year.
