[OKFN-AU] blog posts for humanity

Guys,

Just a small correction - Tim said

"I would suggest a blog post on the push for open research - both the
National Health and Medical Research Council and the Australian Research
Council have announced that future funding grants will be contingent on
researchers making research datasets open and available for reuse."

AFAIK the NHMRC has announced something on open access, and the ARC is
considering it, but there have not been any mandates on open data?

There was, however, something interesting from ARCcom:

http://www.innovation.gov.au/Research/Pages/AustralianResearchCommittee.aspx

which was supportive of openness:

“in principle, the results of publicly funded research should be widely
available so that the maximum benefit can be gained from the knowledge
created” (p.68).

Cheers,

Mat
