hey all,
i'm considering running a sesison on open science and/or open data at the
upcoming Australian Science Communicators conference, feb 2014 in brisbane.
these conferences tend to be a lot of fun, quite interactive, and have
plenty of reach to scientists and communicators.
a) is anyone interested in talking?
b) does anyone have ideas on what might be interesting to cover?
cheers

Subject: [ASC-list] ASC2014 - Call for session producers and presenters
To: asc-list <asc-list at lists.asc.asn.au>
Hello ASC-listers
It is time! The ASC Conference Program Committee is now calling all
potential session producers and presenters to submit their session
proposals or presenter abstracts.
All the information you need is on the Session Producers and
Speakers<http://www.ascconference.asn.au/index.php/speakers> webpage
but more below.
ASC2014 <http://www.ascconference.asn.au> will be held at the Brisbane
Convention and Exhibition Centre from 2-5 February 2014. Registrations are
open and the Super EarlyBird rate is still available.
1. Session producers
You are invited to submit proposals for conference sessions*. You have the
opportunity to conceive, design and organise your ideal session and have
your contributions recognised in the Conference Program. For the first
time, you also have the opportunity to be part of the Conference
Proceedings. And you may choose whether or not to also participate in the
session. Spaces are limited!
*Stuck for a specific idea but really want to be involved? Contact the
conference program committee at program.committee at asc.asn.au to be offered
a plethora of session ideas waiting to find an owner.
2. Speakers
The call for abstracts for the ASC2014 National Conference is open and
submissions to present (either orally or via poster) are invited. In 2014,
the ASC National Conference will feature presentations in a few
categories: 1. abstract only, 2. non-refereed paper or 3. peer-reviewed
papers.
Where possible, research-focused paper presentations will be mainstreamed
in conference sessions addressing relevant conference themes. There may be
some separate sessions for research papers that do not fit squarely in the
conference themes.
The first step is submitting an abstract. This must be submitted based on
the guidelines. Some people who have abstracts accepted will be invited to
submit full papers and choose whether they want these peer-reviewed (DEEWR
publication category E1) or not (DEEWR publication category E2).
All session producers and speakers are invited to submit their proposals
and abstracts via the Session Producer and Speaker Portal.
Best wishes
Claire
