[@OKFNau] Central ckan or other repository for Aus data?

Hey guys, if data by gov that is then improved (for instance digitised) I
think the data.gov.au team could convince many (but probably not all) data
custodians within gov to publish them on data.gov.au. This would take a
little coordination but is certainly doable. This would make the data
authoritative rather than just available and might encourage those agencies
to publish more of their data in useful formats :)

Where data has no connection to gov at all, the community solution seems
the best path.

Regarding metadata sharing, there are certainly ways to do this. The
data.gov.au team (inc me) was looking to do some type of public open data
update and discussion, probably Feb 21st, the day before International Open
Data Day. So we might try get a blog up about it in the coming month and
it'd be great to talk about the future of gov and non-gov opendata with
everyone.

Cheers,
Pia
