I have no idea if this is helpful or not but through KnowYourPlace you can get results including json format for suburb eg Burwood NSW http://infoaus.net/seifa/postcode.php?variable=Burwood&state=NSW&submit=Go ( results are on bottom right of page)
gives link to http://mapit.openlocal.org.au/point/4326/151.103682,-33.877423.htmlwhich has -map of Burwood LGA (with links to adjacent areas)-map of postcode for Burwood (with links to adjacent areas)-map of the state electorate within which Burwood falls http://mapit.openlocal.org.au/area/231.html-map of federal electorate within which Burwood falls http://mapit.openlocal.org.au/area/1182.html

Subject: Re: [@OKFNau] GeoJSON data format
Hi Mark,
Broadly, yes, I love it. After years of enduring shapefiles and GML it's just an utter pleasure to work with. The availability of parsers and renderers is widespread, it's human readable, easy to generate, and even has nifty integrations like GitHub's automatic "upload GeoJSON, receive map" feature.
As far as sources of data go. Three thoughts off the top of my head:
1) SLIP FutureSLIP[1] is WA Government's spatial data platform with APIs for accessing spatial data from 2,400 odd datasets. We're in the process of building a new version on Google's Map Engine platform that will support a larger range of APIs and, by default, speaks (Geo)JSON.
But you're already aware of that, Mark :)
2) GovPondGovPond[2] only turns up 15 results for a search for JSON, and only half of them are Glenorchy Council!
>From memory the BOM provides JSON feeds for a bunch of its products as well.
If you feel like diving into Google a search for "json site:.gov.au -site:data.gov.au -site:data.nsw.gov.au" might yield a few interesting nuggets.
3) If you're specifically after local govt data try asking on the Local Govt GIS groups. e.g. https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/lggis

Hi all,
I'm interested in finding out if anyone here has been involved in any projects using GeoJSON data. I'm looking to do a bit of advocacy work for the standard (including some demos) and the situation is pretty dire on data.gov.au, who only has one provider: a few feeds from Glenorchy City Council. I'm looking for some more.
Does anyone know of any other sources for local geo data in this standard? Has anyone here had any experience with the standard? Either positive or negative?
Thanks
Mark
