[@OKau] Qn's from Government re GovHack

I'm talking to the Vic government about assigning a main liaison person
from the government to engage with GovHack, coordinate activities across a
number of agencies and deal with these types of concerns, rather than
having the current piecemeal approach (which costs far more time and energy
on both sides for inconsistent efforts). The people I've spoken to see the
benefit in this approach, noting the success of Unleashed in SA.

This may not kick in until next year however.

Note that I've been working with the DHHS - spent the day with them on
Tuesday - on their social presence.

The person in the tobacco unit should be speaking directly with Luke
Horwill, the Department's Strategic Comms Director, about this, and all
these types of questions, and the overall Department's stance to open data
could be settled in a few minutes.

Alongside this, GovHack should have answers to these types of questions
sitting in a standard FAQ somewhere, so that consistent responses are
available to all potential participants and to GovHack's volunteers - this
reduces the potential for miscommunication leading to poor outcomes.

BTW - it would also be useful to make the total prize pool from last year
clear. The guys I spoke to had calculated it at about $80k, with half
coming from Victoria. The way the prize pool is presented in the site
across state and local prizes made it difficult for them to grasp that the
event is actually significantly larger in scope.

Cheers,

Craig
