[okfn-be] EU Copyright reform - Position Paper

Hello, everybody!

Following news:
I now have it confirmed from two independent sources that Unit Copyright of
the European Commission will do what it can to publish a reform proposal on
EU copyright. Looks like they will focus on things like cross-border
access, user-generated content (scary, as they don't understand it) and
text and data mining.

The pro-reform plan in the Brussels EU bubble looks as follows:
In two weeks we'll release the Wikimedia Position Paper asking for
harmonisation, larger exceptions and shorter copyright terms.
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/EU_policy/Position_Paper_on_EU_Copyright

Other organisations and groups like Copyright4Creativity and Communia are
likely to take similar steps very much in-line with our demands.

My request is, whether OKFN-BE might want to co-sign this? I already have
the endorsement of OKFN-AT and OKFN-DE and am hoping for several CC
chapters to join it, too. It would make us stronger if we have more
signatories below this document, so any other organisations you might think
of are welcome!

Thanks!

Cheers,
Dimi
