[okfn-be] openKnowledge being representative of Belgium

Hi Nicolas,

A very important issue. I can only speak for the OpenStreetMap working
group but what we always try to do is to communicate in languages native to
Belgium meaning NL and FR (German is a special case). There are a lot of
mappers not comfortable with communicating in english. Also the reason why
there is no english language setting on osm.be is to prevent blog posts in
english-only.

I am the first to admit my FR-knowledge is not good enough, that's also why
I started searching for someone to help manage osm.be and the
twitter/facebook accounts but I wasn't very successful. Also finding
someone to do translations on osm.be proved to be difficult but we have
found someone a couple of months ago.

Bottom-line: We just need more french-speaking volunteers in our working
group (just talking OSM here). I would like nothing more than being
replaced at openknowledge belgium by a french-speaking OSM-er! So let's try
and make this a reality! ;-)

Cheers,

Ben
