1. What do you propose to do?

Our project encourages the production of georeferenced news and
information in Brazilian low income neighbourhoods
<http://g.co/maps/eu3yg>, affected by pacification processes
<http://www.france24.com/en/20110819-Brazil-gang-violence-police-Olympic-Games-rio-de-janeiro-favela>.

2. Is anyone doing something like this now and how is your project different?

Mapkibera.org works with citizen media/mapping. UN Habitat and Google
<https://sites.google.com/site/mapyourworldcommunity/events/slum-mapping>
encourage citizen mapping, but there are no specific projects. Our
project is scalable and will map information and news to promote local
development.

3. Describe the network with which you intend to build or work.

For the collaborative mapping we will use MootiroMaps, a tool based on
Google Maps and wiki applications. Facebook and Twitter will serve to
spread news, organize group discussions and meet people to join our
community. Fotos will be uploaded on flickr and for videos we will use
a Youtube channel.
