International Symposium on Technopolitics (IST)
-----------------------------------------------

The Sarava Group organizes the International Symposium on Technopolitics
(IST)
on 14th June 2012 in Sao Paulo - Brazil, inviting programmers, social
scientists and activists from Brazil and all over the world to discuss
control,
censorship and surveillance in the new media.

The debate is inserted and tries to make connections with what's going on
in Brazil
right now, like the National Truth Commission, the Information Access Act,
the nascent
internet regulation, the Copyright Law revision, the digitalization of the
radio
spectrum and the role of communication technologies on a country in a
process
of redemoctratization.

At the same time, it tries to make a parallel with international issues like
the use of technology during the Arab Spring and the wave of data leaks,
always
with the technological and political points of view.

Besides exploring the issues around freedom of expression, power, privacy,
security and anonymity in the digital media, the conference also brings
researchers whose work and production shows new paths to political practive,
organization and communication.

The schedule already has speakers from Brazil, Europe and USA.

   When: 14th Jun 2012 - from 09:30am to 6:00pm
Where: EACH - USP - São Paulo - Brasil
